A car show at the Roulette Fire Hall on Friday brought out the cruisers despite threat of rain. The event was sponsored by Jubilee of Coudersport, Stoltz Cars, Fastenall, Street Machines, and Morgan AM & T.
In above photo, Dennis Caden receives his award for Cruiser of the Month from Roulette Fire Chief Ray Kulp. Denny's car is a 1926 Ford Model "T".

Above: Billy Nenno, of Roulette, always greets you with a smile. Billy was a well known automobile repair specialist in the Roulette area who loves restoring old vehicles.

Saturday 7/25/09 storm possible twister on Upper Barkshanty Road Clark's Farm

Here are some of the photos I took after the storm hit our property Saturday around 4 or 5 pm. We live on Upper Barkshanty Road. The Clark's Farm. I had to wait till the next day to get clear pictures. The ones I had taken that night before dark were not clear enough. It looks like it started up near our house and went down the driveway keeping to the left side then into the apple orchard and up into pines. It snapped really big trees right off half way up. When to look at the damage to the pine patch it looks like a twister went into it. It also damaged trees across the road. Then it must have went on to Odin.
We were lucky no one got hurt and we had no structural damage to any of our barns or our houses. The cows were fine they didn't even try to escape even with the fence damaged in quite a few places.

Roulette firefighter Mike Ingalls was MC for the event on
February 28, 2009 where firefighters and ambulance volunteers
were recognized and recognized others at the
Annual Fire Department Appreciation Dinner held
at the Roulette Fire Hall

Solomon's words editor James Jones was completely taken
by surprise when awarded "Photo Man Of The Year" certificate

State Police Fire Marshall Dave Surra was the keynote speaker
for the event. Dave showed photos from several fires showing how
he had determined the cause of the fires.

Fire Marshall Dave Surra described how several arson fires
were solved by co-operation with firefighters in gathering
evidence.

Fire Marshall Surra has been stationed at the Coudersport Barracks
for three years. He was previously stationed at Mansfield.

He hails from nearby Elk County

Mike Ingalls adjusts the microphone for Shirlee Winans,
who presented a plaque and donation to the fire department.
Shirlee thanked the fire department for honoring her husband,
"Skip" Winans, who recently passes away. Skip was given a
last ride on the fire engine from the funeral home in Coudersport
to his burial at the Card Creek Cemetery on Kim Hill Road.

Potter County Commissioner Doug Morley accepted an
appreciation award for the Potter County Commissioners.

James P. Steiner, Emergency Management Coordinator of the
Potter County Department Of Emergency Services speaks briefly
after receiving his appreciation certificate. Jim has worked closely
with the Roulette Fire Department on several incidents over the
last year.

the recipient of several awards this year.

PA DCNR was on scene to help with the search

Along with the PA Game Commission

And PA State Police from the Coudersport station

Jim Steiner was on scene with Potter County's Incident
Management Unit which served as the command post
for the search. The unit has comprehensive communications
capabilities on radio, fax and satelite internet.

A long shot taken from the Fishing Creek Bridge on Main Street
shows lots of smoke and noticable fire at the top of the far right
upstairs window near the chimney.

Firefighters and equipment from Roulette, Port Allegany,
and Coudersport arrived on the scene very quickly.

It's obvious that the firefighters are doing their job
as the smoke lessens from the structure

The seal of excellence on this fire truck is a good
reflection of the professional job that these fire
crews did on this house fire today

Area fire chiefs continue to have problems with daytime
response with so many working out of town. More volunteers
are always needed to join these hometown heroes protecting
our lives and property. If you think you'd like to help, as a
firefighter, an EMT, a truck driver, a fire policeman, a bingo
helper, or a custodian at the hall, grab one of the volunteers
and put your name in. The Fire Service can use a few more good
men and women.

You must be a woman of 50 or over (or you may be a Pink Hatter under 50), and you must attend functions in full regalia, (red hat, purple outfit for women 50 and over, or pink hat and lavender outfit for women under 50).

Ladies are strongly encouraged to follow these color guidelines, and to NOT wear purple/red until they have reached THE BIRTHDAY. This adds an element of fun to aging, which we think is invaluable to women in our society who have learned to dread aging and avoid it at all costs. We believe that aging should be something anticipated with excitement, not something to dread.

Even the Potter County Historical Society was
represented with an information table.

Potter County Sheriff's office was there to answer
questions and take applications for permits to carry
a concealed weapon.

The Coudersport Volunteer Ambulance Association
was there to offer information on their services.

William B. Henry, Financial Advisor, from Edward Jones
Investments was a busy man today advising Seniors what
to do with a sinking stock market.

Benjamin Olney, Funeral Director at Olney Funeral Home
and Cremation Service was on hand to explain his services
to seniors.

It was a full house all morning at the Roulette
Fire DepartmentDining Hall for the Expo.

Rep. Marty Causer makes sure everyone is served.

All the parking lots were full on a beautiful Fall
day in Roulette, Potter County, PA.

Port Allegany Artist Ardelle Herzing

Divinely Inspired Rendition Of Famous Painting

Ardelle Herzing, from Port Allegany, shows Pastor Lynn Geiser
her latest oil painting. The painting is Ardelle's own rendition of
Thomas Blackshear's famous painting "Forgiven." Ardelle says
the work is divinely inspired. It took her three weeks to paint.

The Inn On Maple Street was the place to be last
Sunday afternoon. The Inn hosted an Open House
and a reception for Ardelle Herzing, an extremely
talented local artist who displayed over 40 pieces
of her collection of paintings she has done.

It was Ardelle's day as friends and admirers gathered
at The Inn on Maple Street, looked over her paintings,
and snacked on Red Velvet Cake, tea and coffee.

Joan Stromberg, a neighbor of Ardelle's, was there.
Joan, also an artist, will display her paintings, mostly
landscapes, through October at the Inn on Maple St.

November with a display of her work.
