I am Jeannie Stuckey, Potter County Auditor. I am campaigning to retain my office this year. In the May 19th Primary Election, I am #1 on the Republican ballot, and I ask the support of my Democrat friends by writing me in on their ballots.
I am a 42 year resident of Sylvania Township here in southern Potter County. I graduated from Coudersport Area High School, attended the University of Pittsburgh at Bradford and Mansfield University.
Before my appointment to County Auditor last year, most of my career experience has been in the private sector, including sales and marketing with Emporium Specialties, payrolls, inventory, and clerical duties with PennDOT, and 28 years as a Senior Field Clerk for National Fuel Gas Co. My husband and I owned and operated Stuckey’s Dairy-Dine in Austin for 12 years. I was his bookkeeper, with payrolls, shift schedules, and government quarterly reports.
I have experience with several payroll and accounting systems including Quickbooks, People Soft, Office Word, and Excel.
As County Auditor this past year, my audit accounts have included:
All 30 County Tax Collectors, All 3 District Magistrates’ Offices, All Hotel/Motel Tax accounts, 4 Grant Accounts, Cooperative Extension, Tax Assessment, and the Potter County Conservation District.
This has been a challenging year with an extensive learning curve. With the help and patience of many friends, clients, co-workers in the Gunzburger building, PA County Agencies, training, seminars and a huge hand from above, I have learned to audit my accounts and serve the Potter County taxpayer’s interests.
Going forward in a new 4 year term, as County Auditor, I hope to work with the board to update some of the audit procedures, making our office more productive, thus saving money and streamline the process.
I would also suggest “cross-training” on our accounts whereby each auditor would train on all accounts and reports and rotate responsibilities. As County Auditors we are charged with the job of “watch dogs” for the taxpayer’s money and I believe each of us should become familiar with all aspects of a good, thorough and true audit.
It has been my privilege to serve this county I love. With your support and your vote on
May 19th, I hope to continue this work for another 4 years.
